Hi there.

Bookish people like me like to whine about the fact that people nowadays don’t read books and only spend time on TikTok. I am afraid that those poor souls who have TikTok accounts are already lost, and we should instead whine about the fact that those people who still read books all read the same stuff. What do I mean? Open any book recommendations list or book subscription service, and most of the books suggested there will overlap.

I like the idea that if you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking. And no, by saying that I don’t recommend rejecting any book that has a bestseller status. I simply suggest looking for worthwhile books that haven’t made it to those reading lists because of their obscurity, or classical books that don’t make it to the lists anymore.

Unfortunately, finding great or even decent books is one of the biggest challenges of reading. Well, apart from doing the actual reading, which gets harder and harder as our brains are slowly destroyed by social media.

I started 2020 with the challenge of reading 100 books this year, and I’ve been sharing the best books I come across with the readers of this email list.

I will be honored if you choose to subscribe. I promise to respect your inbox and only share the books that are worth your time—books that will influence your life in a meaningful way, inspire, and hopefully shake your convictions.

Best,
Nadia.
